"Smashing Time" (Rough Trade)
Playful primitives or sham amateurs? The TV Personalities' latest fab "smash" (c. Melody Maker) describes a weekend in London with true Wordsworthian banality; but without the sly barbs of 'Where's Bill Grundy Now', their studied naivety rings twee. Weak chorus but neat guitar splashes and brilliant sleeve notes win them (him?) the benefit of the doubt.
